How to Measure for Inside Mount

✅ Measure the Depth

Measure the depth at the top of the window frame to ensure there’s enough space for a secure inside mount. This will also help determine if a flush mount is possible, where the product sits within the frame without protruding. Minimum depth requirements vary by shade type.

Measure the Width

To account for any window shape irregularities, measure the window at three points: top, middle, and bottom. Round each measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch.

✅ Measure the Height

Measure the window at three points: left, center, and right. Round each measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Use the largest of these measurements as your ordering length.

Tips for Inside Mount

  • Confirm if your window has enough depth for an inside mount.
  • If not, no worries! You can switch to an outside mount or explore other suitable products.
  • Examine the window frame or casing to make sure it’s strong enough to drill into directly.

How to Measure for Outside Mount

✅ Check the Space

Measure the height above the window where the headrail will be mounted. Ensure there’s enough space for secure installation of the brackets and headrail.

✅ Measure the Width

Measure the width of the window (from the outer edge of the frame). If possible, add 2-4 inches (1-2 inches on each side) to this measurement to reduce light leakage. This adjusted width will be used for your order.

✅ Measure the Height

Measure the height of the window (from the outer edge of the frame). If space allows, mount the shade at least 10-12 inches above the window frame to account for stack height and maximize window exposure.

Tips for Outside Mount

  • Allow Extra Space: Add extra width to fully cover the trim, or at least 2-3 inches on each side (4-6 inches total) if there’s no trim. This ensures better light control and privacy.
  • Create a Larger Window Effect: Mounting the blinds outside the window frame not only accommodates the brackets but also makes the window appear larger, enhancing the room's aesthetic.
  • Check Mounting Space: Ensure there’s at least 2-3 inches of flat surface above the window or frame for the mounting brackets.
  • Consider Projection Brackets: If your window has molding, projection brackets can help extend the blinds further from the frame, allowing space for the molding.
